About the festival:
If you are new to Tropical Pressure Festival the core of what we do is to host a world class musical celebration of tropical beats from the cultures of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean & we do this in a uniquely beautiful setting with some very amazing people! In addition to the top class musicians we attract to our line-up we also offers creative workshops (e.g. yoga/weaving/pottery/foraging/camp fire cooking/laughter therapy), a rejuvenation field (hot tubs/massage/well ness/nutrition), an amazing array of tantalising vegetarian & vegan world food, opportunities to experience the ocean, coast path and golden sands at Porthtowen in between the festival madness, and a carefully curated craft and produce area – which is where you lovely people come in!
The festival is located in the glorious surrounds of the Mount Pleasant Eco park – a 42 acre former farm perched up above the golden sands of Porthtowen – with far reaching views of the beautiful North Cornish Coast. The trading area will be located within the main arena and as such receive a constant flow of revellers throughout the day.
If you are not familiar with the Eco Park site it is very open with fantastic coastal views, but as a result can be in a fairly exposed spot weather wise! Obviously, we expect it to be a totally Tropical weekend, but we need to ensure that all stallholders are prepared for every eventuality both in terms of hot and cold/wet weather.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide emergency cover in bad weather, so your tents/marquees will need to be durable, suitable for purpose and professionally erected. Please bear this in mind before applying!
Who comes to our festival:
Our crowd are very much lovers of tropical music who enjoy the relaxed daytime party vibe we offer right through to the heady evening club beats featured in our late-night clubbing areas. The also value our environmentally friendly and ethically conscious goals.
Our demographic truly crosses all ranges from 0 to 65+ (families/singles/groups/retired etc.) is well gender balanced, and we intend to keep it this way to ensure that the festival remains a welcoming, friendly and truly inclusive experience.
The geography of our appeal is both broad and far reaching. In addition to the very strong and healthy local population who see TP as an annual highlight, we also have strong contingents who travelled to us from Bristol, London, Europe, America and Jamaica – amongst many other locations!
How long have we been going?
The festival is now in its fifth year and we are definitely seeing all of the hard work pay off not only in terms of the numbers of repeat festival attendees we are seeing year on year – which is now in excess of 55%, but also in terms of our growing reputation on the world music festival circuit. This has seen us take a place deep in the hearts of a discerning music loving crowd and other festival curators – well in excess of what our size would suggest.
We want to ensure the festival runs for many years to come, so we always try our best to focus on growing and nurturing what we do on the site in a sustainable and conscious way.
*****APPLICATIONS CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY 28th FEBRUARY 2018*****
